As the Christmas season approaches, a special opportunity is presented for children to come together and spread joy through music.

Youth pastor Talitha Horn, is on the lookout for kids between the ages of eight and 12 to join a new children’s choir in preparation for Christmas celebrations.

Horn said this choir will be a wonderful occasion for kids to learn about the joy of singing, make new friends, share the spirit of Christmas and inspire young ones to express their creativity and faith.

“Everyone is welcome, we want unity bringing together children from different religions, beliefs and views,” said Horn.

“I love to sing; I love to share the gift of singing and being able to share some love and joy.”

Already, parents of 30 children have expressed interest on behalf of their kids.

Horn said the children’s choir will be performing at the Christmas in the Park event on Thursday 19 December, and several festive events.

She is married with two children and leads a small Are Tanu church in Titikaveka with her husband and tutors private singing lessons.

Horn was raised surrounded by music listening to the strums of the guitar and songs by her father Pastor Paul Kauri, lead pastor at Te Arepua Gateway Assembly of God Church in Takuvaine.

For almost 20 years Pastor Kauri ran carols in the Park for Papakura and South Auckland in Aotearoa New Zealand.

“The fruit of that was so much joy seeing the kids and the love and joy shared through song, seeing them flourish and rubbing shoulders with one another,” said Horn.

“To see the unity around the gathering of kids and their parents.”

Rehearsals for the children’s choir will begin this Saturday 16 November at Te Arepua church in Takuvaine from 1pm – 2pm.
