Don’t miss the exceptional flavours of Fiji-Indian lamb curry and butter chicken at the local delightful restaurant, Mama Ts located in Arorangi.

Lamb curry is a delicious and aromatic dish featuring tender pieces of lamb simmered in a flavourful sauce made with a blend of spices, herbs, and you can choose to have it spicy or not.

This popular culinary creation offers a delightful fusion of savoury and spicy flavours, making it the best choice if you are going to eat at Mama Ts.

And butter chicken, another Indian classic dish made with marinated and grilled chicken simmered in creamy tomato gravy or curry is a lip-smacking and delicious dish very popular for the local restaurant.

Mama Ts owner Shaheem Sneh said the lamb curry and the butter chicken is more popular for them and most locals and visitors prefer eating there.

“They'll always get the best lamb curry on the island at Mama Ts and the butter chicken, there's no doubt about that.”

Mama Ts was officially opened in 2014 when Sneh believed she was ready to embark on a journey of opening her own restaurant giving people  an opportunity to try her very own recipe of Indian dishes ranging from curry, lamb palau, chicken stir fry and even pizzas.

Sneh says the meals all have a taste of Indian flare, with just the right Indian kick of ingredients, you will notice that there is consistency in all the food.

“I'm not a chef but I'm a good cook, so whatever recipe you see here, it is all mine.”

Why the name Mama Ts?

Sneh said when she came to Rarotonga she did not know anyone but a family in Ngatangiia namely Ura Tangaroa.

Sneh and her husband became close to the family who had a business running as Mama Ts Delight.

“And then so somehow anyhow it didn't happen and then because we were so close to them and they were like my own family, when we started the business we spoke to Aunty Ura and we name it Mama Ts,  the T stands for Tangaroa family and they support us 100 per cent.”

Mama Ts is open seven days a week. Monday to Saturday from 12pm to 9pm and Sundays from 1pm to 8pm.
