Dressed in their spooky cute costumes they visited the homes in their neighbourhood up Kapa Road in Akaoa, Arorangi for candy treats.
Leilani Sadaraka Gardiner, super mum of four has been organising the special kids Halloween event since 2021 when her daughter Hinania was born.
Since then, every year on October 31, Gardiner and her friends have bought lollies to share out to their neighbours to offer the children knocking on their doors.
“It started out as something for our kids to get dressed up and visit the neighbours when we lived in Nikao,” Gardiner said.
This year was a first in Akaoa where Gardiner now resides.
“It was pretty special this year, neighbours made the effort to carve a Halloween coconut rather than using a pumpkin, the kids up the road joined in the fun for the first time.” Next year, Gardiner anticipates more fun and more goodies for Halloween.
