After an exhilarating three days of learning and development, the youth football coaching course hosted by Phill Parker from the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) has come to a successful conclusion in Rarotonga.

The event brought together coaches and managers from various football clubs across the island, creating an enriching environment for collaboration and growth.

Participants were immersed in a comprehensive curriculum designed to enhance their coaching skills. The course covered a range of topics, including effective coaching methodologies, age-appropriate training techniques, and the importance of fostering a positive environment for young athletes.

On Wednesday, the last day of the course, participants were thrilled to receive their Youth Football Coaching Certificates, marking a significant achievement in their coaching journey. The atmosphere was electric, with a palpable sense of accomplishment among the attendees.

In a statement, Cook Islands Football Association said: “Feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed how the workshop provided them with practical tools and strategies they could immediately implement with their teams.”

One coach remarked, “It was great to connect with others who share the same passion for developing youth football.”

According to CIFA, as coaches and managers of junior division teams, the participants recognised the critical role they play in shaping the future of football in Rarotonga.

“The course has proven to be an invaluable experience for all involved. With the skills and insights gained, participants are eager to implement what they’ve learned, ensuring that the future of grassroots football in Rarotonga is bright and promising.”

Special thanks go to the presenters who shared their invaluable insights and expertise: Ngati Manuela (U16 Men’s Head Coach), Tyson Tekeu (Goalkeeping Development Officer), Tupou Brogan (Women’s Development Officer), and Phill Parker (OFC Player Development Manager). CIFA would also like to thank its very own technical director Matt Campbell for his outstanding efforts in organising the three-day course and it was incredibly well-structured and beneficial.
