Over 400 athletes have registered to represent Team Atiu in the upcoming Cook Islands Games, which will be held next month from October 4 to 19.

The Atiu Warriors will have representatives spread across all the 25 sports codes.

Leading up to the biennial Cook Islands Games, Team Atiu is hosting a Golf Ambrose fundraiser today at the Rarotonga Golf Club.

Team Atiu secretary June Putere said the Golf Ambrose would be their biggest fundraiser effort involving representatives from all their sports codes.

“This is a whole team effort for our Cook Islands Games campaign, the funds will be used for resources and costs.”

There will be a Darts Singles Competition held tonight. Entry fees are $10, $20 for a Euchre Pairs event, and $10 for pool table competition.

Delicious meals organised by the “boss lady in charge”, Mere Rairoa, will be served from 7am, lunch from 1pm and dinner from 4pm.

The Golf Ambrose registration is $150 per team. Contact Dominic Johnson on 55463 or Lisa Tatakura on 50151 for more information. Tee off times are 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4.30pm.

Team Atiu is the reigning champions of the Emo’anga Peu Tupuna Traditional Games category held during the Cook Islands Games in 2020 and 2022.

The Atiu Warriors will be participating in rugby, netball, rugby league, rugby union, soccer, cricket, tennis, bowls, golf, athletics, sailing, indoor basketball, darts, canoeing, weightlifting, boxing, table tennis, volleyball and squash.
