A 15-year-old artist is thriving and supporting herself with her God-given talent, which she has been using to earn money since she was nine.

Athena Napa-Nicholas says despite her love for sports and school, painting and drawing have helped her not only earn money but also thrive in life at her young age.

She was among several youths showcasing their talents and products at the International Youth Day market held at the National Auditorium on Friday.

“Ever since I picked up a pencil I had always struggled until I got more into the art auctions and I just went on from there every year,” Napa-Nicholas said.

Displayed at her stall were her artworks documenting her journey from primary school to her college years.

After every painting, Napa-Nicholas would write about her experience and the meanings behind her works to help her improve.

The proceeds from her artworks help Napa-Nicholas fund her yearly trips to an outer island to explore and learn more about the Pa Enua.

Her advice to the younger generation is to just go for it as there is so much in life than meets the eye.

“Just be you and do what you love doing because you’ll find your crown and just draw because you never know what happens.”
