Tereora College Former Students Association president Teina Etches was overwhelmed by the strong support of former students who attended the Projects Fundraiser Dinner held late last month.

The fundraiser held on July 26 at The Islander Hotel was attended by former students and guests. The buffet dinner event had a strong ticket sale and was hailed a success.

Etches said it was great to see sponsorship from former students and people who still paid for tickets even though they couldn’t attend.

The night included enjoyable impromptu dance performances from the audience, with several people getting up to dance.

Former student and lawyer, Norman George, speaking at the event, informed past students that life was like a marathon and they should compare their lives to this analogy.

George, the former MP and deputy prime minister, also challenged the government to recognise top nation-builders with a dedicated day, similar to Gospel Day, Ariki Day and the King’s Birthday.
