Cook Islands Triathlon Association is excited to host the Uncle Tom’s & PTS Adventure Race this afternoon.

Association president Roland Neururer said: “What will be a hugely fun and exciting afternoon, could be dramatic if there is some rainfall which would made the mountain bike trail very boggy.”

“Spectators will be able to take some fantastic muddy shots of all our competitors!”

The event is an adventure race which breaks away from the usual triathlon disciplines, and sees the athletes battling a 1.2 kilometre stand up paddle board course, a 18km mountain bike ride which crosses some of our inland areas, the bush and the water intakes. There is also a break in the mountain bike ride and competitors need to run a 1.8km hill section and then a 2km road run to finish.

“Grateful thanks is given to Uncle Toms & PTS as the main sponsor and The Bond Store for their generous sponsorship of prizes and to the Raina Family for graciously allowing CITAI the use of the area behind Enua Manea Hall to host the event.”

Entry fee is just $10 per person and registrations are welcome from all men and women over 16 years, either as an individual or a team.

“Please note that due to the nature of the course this race isn’t suitable for children to participate but we encourage you all to come along and cheer on your friends and families.”
