The past weekend turned out to be another “normal” round of incidents with three rental crashes reported to police.
Police strategic and media advisor Trevor Pitt said the first crash was called in late Friday night when a blue truck collided with a silver rental car in Titikaveka.
The second crash on Friday night occurred in Titikaveka near Wigmore’s Superstore when the female driver of a rental car veered into a power pole.
On Saturday afternoon, police attended to the third crash report at Aroa Nui Hall, involving a rental car and a motorbike.
Meanwhile, police arrested a 49-year-old man who was caught with 71 cannabis plants.
He was remanded into prison on Saturday after appearing in court.
Pitt said the defendant was arrested and charged on Friday over what was a well-constructed and organised crop of cannabis seedlings.
He is to appear in court this week.
Police also received complaints of excessive noise, domestic disturbances, and a dangerous driver spotted on the back road of Avatiu heading towards the hospital.
Police arrested a man and charged him with assaulting a child and a female, following a domestic incident on Saturday night.
