The Great Easter Eggs-capade to be held on Saturday, March 30, from 2pm to 5pm, promises team bonding and exciting challenges.
The event is open to 10 teams of six people, all aged 18 and over. The registration fee is $120 per team and closes tomorrow, Wednesday, March 27.
According to Rotaract Rarotonga president Toru Nooroa, the event will involve a scavenger hunt. Teams will embark on a journey from Terevete Park to the Ports Authority area, searching for clues hidden at various locations along the route.
“This is our first event of the year, and we wanted to hold something relevant to the long Easter weekend. The last Easter scavenger hunt we had was back in 2015, so we’re excited to revive this activity on our calendar. It’s a great opportunity for the community to participate in a fun challenge, all while supporting Rotaract and our worthy causes,” Nooroa said.
Funds raised from The Great Easter Eggs-capade will go towards two main initiatives.
Part of the proceeds will support sending a Rotaract Rarotonga representative to an international meeting in Fiji in early April. The remaining funds will contribute to various community projects undertaken by Rotaract throughout the year, both on Rarotonga and the Pa Enua islands.
“The Rotary District 9920 Conference will be held in Nadi, Fiji, from April 5th to 7th,” Nooroa explained. “This conference will allow our representative to connect with Rotaract members from the region and explore potential support and funding for our year’s projects.”
Rotaract Rarotonga has a busy year ahead, with key projects planned like the annual Christmas in the Park, supporting the Anzac Day event and launching a sandfly trap trial in Mitiaro and Aitutaki.
“We’re also committed to supporting vulnerable members of our community in Rarotonga and the Pa Enua,” Nooroa added. “The funds raised during this Easter event will be crucial in helping us carry out these important projects.”
Nooroa expressed her gratitude to the sponsors who have already pledged their support for the event and hopes to welcome more on board this week.
“We’ve had a positive response from the Rarotonga business community, with a handful showing their support despite the challenging economic climate,” she said. “We are incredibly grateful to these sponsors and look forward to hearing from others who might be interested.”
Nooroa also thanked the teams who have already registered and encouraged others to sign up before spots fill up.
The top three teams will win cash prizes, and there will be additional spot prizes awarded, including one for the best-dressed team. For more information, contact Vaineritua Koteka on 75561 or email rotaract.rarotonga@gmail.com.
