Whitta’s 100th birthday a Royal affair
Tepaeru Whitta is delighted to have receive a 100th birthday card from King Charles III. MELINA ETCHES/23102720/ 23102721

As a delightful surprise during her 100th birthday party on Wednesday, October 25, Tepaeru Whitta nee Araitia was presented with a special birthday card from both King Charles III and the Governor General of New Zealand, courtesy of the King’s Representative, Sir Tom Marsters.

Whitta celebrated her incredible 100 years of age with a special birthday surrounded by her loving family, with many flying in from overseas, and dear friends.

Her youngest son, John Whitta, said that she had a great fondness for Her Majesty the late Queen Elizabeth II, and news of the Queen’s passing last year had saddened her.

However, Whitta continues to appreciate and enjoy her longevity.

Turning 100 appears to be a breeze for Whitta, who took in all the festivities on her birthday in her stride, even staying up until around 9pm before retiring to bed.
