Letter: Vaimaanga redevelopment

I applaud the developers of this project (Vaimaanga redevelopment) … well, the current developers anyway!

However, this is no longer a five- or six-star hotel project with international brand marketing advantages, needing direct beach access to be successful at that level. The current developers have made it very clear that this is a piecemeal project and will be slowly put together over a number of years … on restricted budget. Good on them!

However, moving the road around the back of the project is no longer sensible … or safe (if it ever was).

The community must come first and though not ideal for motorists, a pedestrian crossing is the maximum change that should be allowed.
