Tennis Cook Islands (TCI) hosted its Term 3 ANZ-AOPP-JTI Mini Tennis Tournament for three of the primary schools on Rarotonga on Friday, September 15.

The participating schools were Apii Rutaki, Apii Arorangi and Apii Takitumu. The tournament featuring Under-8 Boys and Girls, 9U Boys and Girls and 10U Boys and Girls was held at the National Tennis Centre in Nikao.

Tennis Cook Islands said: “This was a great event and all our children that participated thoroughly enjoyed the day competing against the other schools. The Mini Tennis Tournament is to wrap up a six-week programme with each of these schools, teaching them skills to play tennis and have fun along the way.”

“TCI acknowledges our partners ANZ Bank, JTI (Junior Tennis Intiative-ITF), AOPP (Australian Open Pacific Pathway-Tennis Australia) that assist with funding and equipment for this programme that is delivered by our national coach Malcolm Kajer.

“We would also like to acknowledge our tournament sponsors, who provided amazing prizes for our children to enjoy for their efforts Prime Foods, Vodafone Cook Islands, Tower Insurance, ANZ Bank, Robert Heather and SCO Rarotonga.

“We thank all our volunteer umpires that assisted on the day, in order for games to run smoothly. Thank you to our parents, TCI Junior Development team, SCO Rarotonga and CISNOC for the support on the day.”
