Two incoming passengers who were on separate flights on Wednesday are expected to appear at the Criminal Court in Avarua this morning facing cannabis charges.

Details on the amount of cannabis found on them is still unknown.

Police said they were arrested for illegally importing the drug.

The first incident was reported at 6.10pm when a 44-year-old male was detained at the airport, following a Customs search.

The second arrest was made when a 20-year-old male passenger on a later flight was found with cannabis.

Airport Police called the incident at 9.49pm that same day.

The passengers were remanded in custody on respective charges of importing cannabis.
