CIIC started the project last month after working with engineers from New Zealand to refine the technical specifications.
Both Raro Weld and Taio Builders & Contractors were engaged to undertake the initial remedial works on the grandstand, which are expected to be completed by mid-September.
Access to underneath the grandstand and toilets, will be restricted until mid-September.
CIIC chief executive officer Allan Jensen says, restrictions on the amount of people who are able to use the grandstand, have now been lifted, following installation of additional props under the grandstand.
CIIC had previously imposed a temporary restriction in April, to 75 persons.
Initial remedial works included the installation of steel props below the grandstand and rehabilitation to ground beams to the grandstand.
The budget for this project is $150,000, Mr Jensen says.
Further grandstand remedial work is being planned for the December – January period, during the end of year school holidays. The public will be advised closer to the time.
