Masteka 2, an elegant Cook Islands flagged 37.19 metre motor super yacht, called in to its home port of Avatiu, Rarotonga on Sunday, June 4, for the first time.

Registered in the Cook Islands since October 2021, the vessel’s captain Bruce Jenkins and his crew of six were “proudly” welcomed by the Cook Islands Maritime Cook Islands (MCI) marketing manager Katrina Matheson and chief executive officer Eleanor Roi.

Matheson said: “This is the vessel’s first visit to the Cook Islands; 90 per cent of the Cook Islands yacht fleet operate/trade in and around Europe, South East Asia and the Mediterranean and unfortunately will never visit their home port (Avatiu).”

Masteka 2 arrived into Avatiu Port for refuelling on Sunday, following a gruelling six-day voyage from Nadi, Fiji.

The vessel departed last Tuesday en route to Pape’ete, Tahiti for charter season and is expected to remain in French Polynesia until November 2023.

Masteka 2 is an elegant superyacht with expedition capabilities and was nominated for superyacht of the year in the 30-40m category 2009.

Built by shipyard Kha Shing in Taiwan, she was designed by Dubois Naval Architects and is powered by twin Caterpillar engines, comfortably cruises at 12 knots, and reaches a maximum speed of 17 knots with a range of up to 3455 nautical miles from her 23,000 litre fuel tanks at 8 knots.

Masteka 2 offers flexible accommodation for up to 12 guests in five cabins. The super yacht can be chartered from US$120,000 (NZ$195,403) per week.
