Mental performance coach David Niethe, whose past clients include golfer Lydia Ko, UFC fighter Israel Adesanya and the 2015 NBL championship-winning NZ Breakers, will be talking at the National Auditorium on Tuesday, June 6.
The event is hosted by the Cook Islands Business and Professional Women (BPW), who hope the audience will be inspired to try new things in their mental health journey.
“Dave will entertain, excite, and empower, he is known for his high energy and exhilarating on stage presence, he has the ability to connect with a crowd and deliver a message that will truly inspire,” BPW president Mata Puia said.
“Mental performance and getting that mental edge is Dave’s specialty. His approach is unique in delivery and the results speak for themselves.
“Dave is well-respected by business owners, CEO’s and NZ’s high-performance managers, coaches and athletes, Dave works closely with individuals and teams to perfect their mental aptitude to achieve results.”
Puia said this was Neithe’s first visit to the Cook Islands.
“I met him several years ago when I was living in Auckland. He gave a talk to our cross-fit team where he spoke about the excuses people made in not bettering themselves,” Puia said.
“Something about his approach really inspired me, and got me out the door every day during that Auckland winter to participate in the cross-fit challenge. I lost 20kg as a result.”
Puia said she hopes the audience will come out of the talk inspired to take chances in their own lives.
“We’re going through tough times at the moment, and we all need an encouraging voice to get through them,” Puia said.
The “Get the Mental Edge” show takes place at the National Auditorium on Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm.
Niethe will also host a special free presentation for students aged 13 to 18 at the Auditorium on Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm. Parents who wish to attend will have to pay $25.
“I think he will offer a lot to our young people,” Puia said.
Tickets for Tuesday’s event are $25 for general admission, and $35 on the door.
