The Rising Stars Championship for Netball, Rugby and Volleyball continued despite the drizzling rain last week.

As week three of the championship kicks off tomorrow, Cook Islands Rugby Union’s Ben Koteka said for the Rippa Rugby events it was still early days to determine which school is the team to watch.

He said, however, in the girl’s division, Nikao led the teams.
“But again it is still early days yet with four more weeks of competition to go.”

He said Tereora College led both the U14 and U16 College 7s competition.

Koteka said in the Primary Schools Quick Rip competition in the U11 and U13 Boys section, both Avarua and Nukutere are defending champions.

“Last Friday was very wet and slippery; however all teams adapted to the wet-weather conditions with plenty of enjoyment playing in the rain, lots of ‘good hands’ and ‘diving / sliding tries’ were scored.”

Koteka sharing a word of encouragement said: “Rising Stars is an opportunity to help develop and grow our children through sport underpinned by the World Rugby values of discipline, respect, integrity, passion and solidarity – character values that are promoted by our actions both on and off the field.”

Week three of the Championship will be held tomorrow at Arorangi Field from 11.45am for week three of the Rising Stars – Rugby Championships.

Netball Cook Islands Ngere Puia said all the players have shown how keen and eager they have been on the court. She thanked all the schools for participating.
