All Netball Club competition finals will be matches to watch, says Tekura Moekaa, Netball Cook Islands secretary.

Today, at the Open 1 finals Titikaveka will take on Arorangi while Takuvaine will face Tupapa in the Open 2 finals.

In the Open 1 semis, Titikaveka won over Takuvaine 19-11, while Arorangi drew on their experience and remained cool, calm and collective to win 23-20 against Avatiu.

Aramoana Mataroa of the Takuvaine/Tutakimoa Netball Club said the most important part of the open team’s preparation is their mental wellbeing.

She said the team's head coach Tupe Dora has been telling the girls how to create space in their mind and focus.

“Anything can happen, we saw last week in the semi’s how the two top teams went down,” she said.

She said last year, their Open 2 team was placed second in the final and this year they are not underestimating their opponents.

Meanwhile, Saturday finals will feature; 6U - Tupapa vs Avatiu, 8U - Avatiu vs Ngatangiia, 10U - Avatiu vs Tupapa, 12U - Takuvaine vs Arorangi, 15U - Arorangi vs. Avatiu, Reserves - Avatiu vs Tupapa and Prems - Arorangi vs Tupapa.

Moekaa says: “All games will be matches to watch. Ngatangiia has one team in the final and is looking to take out the 8U grade.

“Tupapa 6U has been unbeaten all round and showing great understanding of the game.”

The secretary’s pick is the 12U Match.

The game will take place at the Dome- rain or shine, followed by the presentation (prize giving) and a special announcement at the commencement of the premier game, she said.

“It will be an exciting day of netball - and sadly the last games for traditional netball,” she added.
