Aaron Paenui Tangapiri appeared before Justice of the Peace Tangi Taoro at the Criminal Court in Avarua on Tuesday where he was told the vehicle was a right off, and that its value before the crash was $17,000.
Police recommended 12 months of probation and that Tangapiri not leave the Cook Islands.
Tangapiri was convicted and sentenced to 12 months of probation, ordered not to leave the Cook Islands without permission, and ordered to pay $17,000 reparation, $25 for a quote for the damage to the car, $20 towards the victim’s medical report and court costs of $50.
