Beating the heat at the harbour

With the heat and humidity rising daily in Rarotonga, there’s only one place to beat the high temperatures – and that’s to cool off with a swim.

At this time of year some children make a beeline for the port, where they entertain themselves by jumping off the wharf into the water, creating the
biggest splash they can. Others perform aerial gymnastics such as back flips, vying with each other to attract the most attention from passers-by. The photograph was taken on Thursday.
