Christmas has briefly been postponed, well at least the Tropical Christmas Santa Parade on Rarotonga which was to be held yesterday afternoon, as persistent rain continues to pound the island.

However, it’s likely to go ahead on Wednesday next week, depending on weather.

Organisers took to social media on Thursday morning, saying the parade had been postponed until further notice.

“Unfortunately the rain has got the better of us. Fingers crossed that the weather improves so that we get the Tropical Christmas in Raro that we all look forward to next week.”

In a written statement, organisers told Cook Islands News; “We are hoping that next week there will be some better weather. We are looking at the possibility of rescheduling to Wednesday.Again, that will be weather dependent.”

Santa’s Sleigh, ninja turtles, Tamure Fitness dancers, Disney characters Olaf, Anna, Elsa, Mickey and Minnie, Shrek and Fiona, the Puaikura Fire Brigade and community groups are scheduled to be participating in the float parade to spread Christmas cheer.

This coming Saturday, the Tropical Christmas Santa will be on tour at the CITC Supermarket, Punanga Nui Market, CITC Main Store, Foodland, Island Craft Store, Vonnia’s Store, Vonnia’s Warehouse and The Bond Store. The Island Craft store will have a Bonanza Day from 11am - 1pm.

Take the family to a musical treat on Sunday, December 18 at the National Auditorium for the Korero O Te Orau - Kinura Tapunui Music Festival.
