As long as you are tied to the Govt purse strings through the HoA Act no manner of strengthening customary law is going to make a whit of difference. You are and have been played since 1965 by successive Govts and consigned to playing bit parts on a stage that has you running on as bit part actors. Until and unless you are empowered and attract the younger players, you will always be beholden to political will and playing out roles that TBH are no more than dial-an-ariki. Stand on your own two feet. Create a business model that supports culture and your roles, revamp the education system that runs from cradle to the grave. Develop an education system that incorporates ECH, primary, secondary and opportunities to partner with USP, trade training and other career development.
