Cook Islands Meteorological Service director Arona Ngari said no Rarotonga rainfall records were broken this month in which 259.2mm of rainfall was recorded from August 1 to 28.
Ngari said the majority fell between August 18 to 22 with Nikao Met Service station recording 211.8mm of rain.
It’s more than double the long-term average rainfall amount of 99mm for Rarotonga.
Ngari said the outlook was for fine weather to continue, with some passing showers.
“People are always encouraged to be mindful of using water wisely,” he said.
Banks, who is from Auckland, said she wasn’t too upset by the wet weather when she arrived on Monday last week, but has enjoyed the run of sun.
“It's been so nice, I did get a little bit burnt.
“We've pretty much explored all the beaches; we went beach-hopping, did a little bit of tanning.”
Banks is staying with her friend Ella Shephard who has lived in Rarotonga since the beginning of the year.
“Pre her coming I was checking the weather every day but once it started to warm up it was exciting because you don't really want to have your friends come to visit you and it's pouring down,” Shephard said.
