Don, who is the owner of Raromart, attached the “decent” reward, thinking it would give him the best chance of getting his cat back.
“The cat’s like part of the family, so we would like to get it back if we can,” Don said.
“My wife’s quite upset she was very attached to it, so we thought we would put a decent amount (on the reward).
“If it was a smaller amount it might not mean so much.”
Don said after it went missing on Sunday, they searched the property, trees, roads and even drains in case it was dead. He also said he did not hear dogs around the section on Saturday night.
Don said the cat normally stays around his house on the backroads in Tupapa.
“The only thing we can think of is someone might have seen it and thought it was a stray cat and might have picked it up. It’s usually a bit shy with strangers but you just don’t know."
The cat has the Thai name, Chaut Dee, which means “good heart”. It’s a one-year-old grey and white female tabby. Call Shannon on 58469 if you see it.
