“I love the big crab claw coming across the footpath,” Coupe said.
She said the mural was adding “a big burst of colour” to the island.
“It’s really good, I really noticed it, it’s so colourful.”
Coupe has been coming to the Cook Islands for 50 years and has a place in Nikao. Since retiring she now spends one-to-two months in the Cook Islands each year.
Rarotonga-based Mexican artist Gonzalo Aldana, is painting the seawall with local artist Katu Teiti.
For the project, each island that makes up the country has been allocated 37 metres each of the seawall.
