One of Rarotonga’s most popular eco-tour businesses has launched a new night market in Arorangi.

Hosted by Ariki Adventures and held at the Flying Turtle café, it was launched on April 8.

Offering a mix of Polynesian and Asian style cuisine, with a focus on smaller plates and different food options, it also provides live music and fun activities for the kids, as well as local arts and crafts providing residents and tourists a chance to wander and support small businesses. 

“Last week we were full and it was great,” said event organiser Jules Tamariki, who is also the owner of Ariki Adventures.

“All the vendors sold out, and at one stage we counted eighty people which was a mix of locals and tourists.

“We chose a Friday night so we didn’t clash with the local hotel’s island nights,” she adds.

“A family-friendly and relaxing environment is (also) what we are trying to create.”

According to Tamariki, the market will operate every fortnight on a Friday from 4pm to 8.30pm with the next one to be held on April 22.

It will host live music and entertainment for the whole family, as well as fun for the kids which includes hula hoops and corn-hole games. 

A range of tasty treats and meals including Japanese, Filipino, and Cook Islands-style menus will be on offer, including the Flying Turtle menu of pizza, curries, and seafood platters.
