A woman with name suppression has entered a guilty plea to selling cannabis for the purpose of dealing.

She appeared in the Criminal Court at Avarua on Friday.

The court heard she sold cannabis between August 1 and 17, 2021.

Defence lawyer Mark Short approached her in the dock after the court registrar asked her if she understood the charge.

“It appears the defendant is confused,” Short said.

“We will stand it down at the moment,” Chief Justice Sir Hugh Williams said.

When the matter was called again, the woman entered a guilty plea.

Short asked for a probation report and for sentencing in March.

He said he would like the defendant to undertake counselling.

Justice Williams adjourned the matter to March.
