Nukutere College will host its ever-popular Gala event this Friday and are looking forward to hosting the public for a night of fun, food and fellowship.

The school has been hosting the gala for over 20 years and holds it every second year, sharing the venue with St Joseph’s School who run their own gala every other year.

The night will include many hot and freshly prepared food up for sale for the public, as well as raffles and entertainment by famous song birds Tani Mussell and Rose Akava.

Food stalls selling umu food, steak and sausages with mushroom sauce, and BBQ food will be available on sale by the students. The public can also look forward to seeing special performances by ex Nukutere students.

Vaine Wichman, member of the school board at Nukutere College, says the event is definitely one of the school's biggest on their calendar and that it is always looked forward to by both students and their friends and family.

Crowds of people have always flocked to the school at past gala days in support of the students, to fill themselves up with nourishing food and treats, and to be entertained by the students and ex-students of the school.

“We always try to include things that appeal to the palette of the people and their hearts. The purpose of the gala is to promote the spirit of Nukutere, to maintain that school spirit, and to keep the college in operation,” Wichman said.
