Te Are Manu Vet Clinic continues to express its gratitude to the generous visitors from New Zealand who have contributed financially to the clinic through surprise donations, with their most recent donation coming from a generous mother and son.

Te Are Manu Vet Clinic were the grateful recipients of a $700 donation gifted by a visiting New Zealander and pet lover Jacqueline Engelbrecht, and her son Daniel.

The pair dropped into the clinic at Arorangi to make the donation, both happy to support the independently run charity.

Dr.Ellen McBride from Te Are Manu said that the clinic was highly appreciative of the gesture.

“For a charity any kind of financial contribution is much appreciated and we always put it back into the clinic in helping people look after their pets and keeping our services on a donation basis.

“Any kind of random generosity is always really appreciated and surprising, especially when we have people just pop in to give,” she added.

Dr.McBride shared how last year during the border closure, it was an especially difficult time for the clinic with it being a long time to have little coming in, and running on limited resources.

“When the borders did open we would have random tourists and visitors drop in to give donations which meant a lot.

Last month the clinic received a hearty donation of bandages from two visiting newlyweds.

“There were bandages as far as the eye could see,” McBride exclaimed in a social media post on the clinic’s page.

Visiting holiday maker Treena Mullins also brought over a suitcase of supplies for the clinic during her trip to Rarotonga early last month.

“People like this we really appreciate,” McBride said.

The clinic is staying active, with their plan to visit all ten of the punas around Rarotonga to continue their desexing programme.

McBride confirmed that their most recent donation from Engelbrecht and her son would all be put towards the clinic to fund any supplies that are required to keep the pets and animals around Rarotonga well and taken care of.
