No hurry to return to New Zealand

Tourists Danielle Whitburn and Eamonn Doyle are keen to extend their stay in the Cook Islands as New Zealand enters its third day of lockdown. Unfortunately, they didn’t pack for a prolonged visit.

The two didn’t bring their laptops and reckon the Wi-Fi here isn’t up to speed.

The Auckland couple arrived in Rarotonga on Thursday last week and are scheduled to return next Wednesday.

“We have thought about staying on, if we had good Wi-Fi and we have had brought our laptops, we would have stayed,” Whitburn, a communications specialist, said.

“Internet is a big thing.”

“It would be no different, just more relaxed if we stayed,” Doyle added.

The couple went for a Covid-19 test in Muri, where they are staying, on Wednesday.

“It’s beautiful here, we love it, it’s easy going,” Doyle said.

The first time Cook Islands visitors said they are not in a hurry to get home.

“We are aware of what’s going on in New Zealand, it’s business as usual for us and we will be back to work when we get home,” Doyle said.
