The first day of the ANZ Tamariki Sports programme on Tuesday afternoon was a huge success with around 70 kids aged under 13 taking part.

Touch rugby, basketball and athletics lessons were on offer for the kids who thoroughly enjoyed themselves learning new sports skills.

While programme coordinator Ake Hosea-Winterflood conducted mini athletics drills, members of the national touch rugby association including Geoffrey Halston, Tariu Tairea and touch rugby president Mark Brown shared some tips with future stars.

Basketballers also enjoyed their lessons with members of the basketball association.

The programme will continue every Tuesday afternoon at the BCI stadium with kids having a chance to learn all three sports.

The afternoon started with a compulsory warm-up session and ended with warm down activities including some spontaneous dancing.

It was a fun day for the kids and even more thrilling day for Hosea and her dedicated team of helpers who helped deliver the programme.
