Computer Man golf tournament sees closely contested event

The Computer Man golf tournament held on April 10 was an extremely close battle for prizes with only two strokes separating the top ten placings.

The scorers had to work harder than usual to separate the winners, nearly all on a count back.

This tournament was a nett competition, which is often very hard for the senior players to win since they have to have a really good score on the day to stand any chance of a prize.

In the end it was Ned Howard who won first prize of a new Netbook computer from The Computer Man with a gross score of 70 on a handicap of 6 for a nett of 64.

Howards score was helped by achieving a hole in one on the 13th hole.

Second prize went to Dr Henry T Henry who also had a nett of 64.

Third and fourth placings went to Tania Karati and Lyn Webb, respectively.

They also each had a nett 64.

Next came Pape Aviu, Ngatupuna Manuela, and Tom Vea, (Tom also received a prize for the men’s longest drive) all with nett 65, and Karika Karika Jnr, Paara Pitomaki, and Moetu Tangitamaiti who all carded a nett 66.

This is the closest competition I can ever recall and shows what concentration there is among our golfers.

Meitaki maata to Mike Pynenburg (The Computer Man) for a great tournament with great prizes.

With other tournaments coming up, members are reminded that they must be fully financial to be eligible for a prize.
