Continuing the development of junior athletes and building the capacity of local coaches is the aim of newly re-elected Athletics Cook Islands president Ina Marsters.

Marsters is looking forward to serving a third year as president after first being elected to the post in 2007.

She returned to the post of president in 2009.

Marsters says that 2010 is the athletics year of coaches and the association aims to develop more athletics coaches as well as athletes.

She says that the association is planning some exciting athletics events for this year to boost the annual local competitions.

Air Rarotonga managing director Ewan Smith is the association’s patron with Tereora College principal Teaea Parima supporting Marsters as vice-president.

Mama Pukeiti-Lazaro is the association’s general secretary with Sharon Marsters the assistant general secretary.

The association treasurer is Melanie Wilson and the committee members are Kevin Henderson, John Teiti, Paul Peyroux, Maki Toko, Bill Carfax-Foster and Inangaro Taia.
