Cricket sponsors will get to experience the fun and excitement of the sport in today’s ‘Sponsors Bash’ at Raemaru Park.

Cricket has boomed on the island in the past year thanks mostly to the staunch sponsors of cricket.

Cook Islands Cricket Association general manager Alister Stevic says that today’s sponsors bash tournament is to give sponsors the opportunity to share in the success of the sport – success they have helped achieve.

The tournament is sure to drive home the fact that cricket is fun and exciting.

A total of eight teams have been confirmed for today’s tournament and although the emphasis of the tournament is to have fun – there’s talk of ‘take no prisoners’ strategies by some of the teams.

ANZ Bank have entered two teams in the competition and will take on Edgewater Resort and Spa, The Computer Man, 88FM, Telecom Cook Islands, Motor Centre and Cook Islands News.

Cricket fans around the island are invited to come along and also share in the success of cricket and perhaps give some tips and hints to teams.

All teams are to be at Raemaru Park by 8am for the opening of the tournament at 8.15am and the first game will bowl off at 8.30pm.

Four games will run at one time which is sure to be an action packed spectacle.

After the presentations at 1.30pm an exhibition match between the Telecom High Performance squad and a general managers selection will be staged.

So get to Raemaru Park this morning and share in the fun of cricket.

Tune in to 88FM for an update on today’s tournament.
