Slow start at Golden Oldies

Friday’s golden oldies rugby match at Muri got off to a slow start at 4.50pm with Arthur Emile taking charge of the whistle just as another bunch of townies arrived by bus after the game had started.

Our players of the day with the ‘Go’ spirit were Robert of the Sharks, Stephen from Happy Feet in Aitutaki, pleased to see you and Toa Kauvai of 2papa.

Te Reo made a few good runs then retired while Moe had to make way for out of my way Manarangi plus it was good to see the General have a good run along with fellow club member Robert Skews who once he gets the ball has only one way to go.

It was indeed a very good game enjoyed by all and it seems as though the new younger players have realised how to play the Golden Oldies way with nobody keeping on the field too long and sharing the moment.

Thanks also to the four ladies who took part.

The after game function was started by an address by our president Sir Terepai and a special thanks to those who helped with the kaikai which was appreciated by all.

Next Friday will be at 2papa starting at 4.30pm, jerseys to be supplied by 2papa and late again Mark of the Legends, see you all there.
