Araura Primary School students have been galloping up a storm.
Araura primary school is yet to confirm its athletics day but the school kids have already been getting in plenty of practice ahead of the up and coming event.
This week the pre-schoolers learned how to properly hand over the relay baton using hibiscus twigs, and communication between runners, through a number of team events.
The kids also practised a rather odd race which included the use of pool exercise equipment known as a ‘noodle’ – a foam tube.
For the race the kids spaced out in a line about 60 metres apart and when the teacher said ‘go!’ – off the kids raced on their noodle a bit like riding a pony.
The first runner would race down the line picking up each kid until then racing back to the start.
The race brought laughter to all including the teachers and other kids milling around.
Athletics day at the school is expected to be a fun filled event for the little ones and competitive for the older kids.
