26-week ban

Avatiu rugby player Bilsy Gukisuva has been handed a 26 playing week ban from the game by a three man judicial panel.

During the grand final on Saturday between the Avatiu Eels and Arorangi Cowboys, Gukisuva was cited for punching Arorangi player Emile Mamanu who required 18 stitches to his face from the punch.

The Eels number eight was red carded by the referee and faced the judiciary yesterday.

This means Gukisuva will miss out on the remaining rugby programme this year that includes the hugely popular International Sevens Tournament and a large chunk of the 22 week rugby season in 2011.
