Arorangi faced their first challenge for the 2010 season against Takuvaine on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Takuvaine were seeking revenge after going down to Arorangi the previous week in the Saturday competition.

Arorangi batted first in the 20/20 match and managed to score runs consistently.

Tom Vea was welcomed back into the team after returning from rugby and made a powerful impact with his big hitting.

Vea finished with 44 and was supported by Ronnie Forbes with 23.

Matangi collected 3 wickets for Takuvaine.

Arorangi managed to score 136 runs for 7 wickets off their 20 overs.

The next day was Takuvaine’s turn at the crease.

Struggling early on with the loss of early wickets, they needed a good middle order to pull them through.

Mata Tipoki was the man for the job by getting 19, but this wasn’t enough to reach the total and Takuvaine were all out for 99.

Kiri was powerful with the ball and collected himself a 5 wicket bag for 20 runs, supported by team mates Tom Vea and Danny Webb with 2 wickets each.

The Cookie Cup remains in the Arorangi trophy cabinet.
