Saturday’s soccer knockout grand finals were action packed, from the age grade finals right up to the main premier men’s finals.
Nikao Sokattak and Tupapa squared off in the grand final in an intense game which went right down to the wire and had to be decided by a penalty shoot out.
Tupapa looked the stronger side from the get go to lead 1-0 at the halftime break and extending that lead to 2-0 halfway through the second half.
This could have been their downfall as Nikao pounced when Tupapa were watching the clock tick down.
Nikao made the most of a penalty goal before brothers Tuka and Ano Tisam joined forces to slot in the equaliser goal to force the game into a penalty shoot out.
Nikao goal keeper Romeo Keu withstood the onslaught from Nikao to help his team win the match 4 goals to three after the shoot out and helping Nikao claim victory.
The Tupapa women’s team was too strong for opponents Arorangi winning the match 4-1.
