Sports awards on April 8

The annual Cook Islands sports awards will be held on April 8 at the Aroa Nui Hall in Arorangi. 2010 was another high achieving year for Cook Islands athletes and all national federations are encouraged to nominate athletes for awards.

The annual sports awards are an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of local athletes on the international and regional sports scene.

Nominations are now open and forms are available at the CISNOC office in Taputapuatea.

Nominations for the sports hall of fame are also open and nominations will be accepted from both the national federations and the community at large.

The categories for this year’s awards include the sportsman and sportswoman of the year, junior sportsman and sportswoman, sports team, fair play award, IOC sports personality award, women in sports trophy, sports technical official, sports achievement, sports administrator, sports coach, best administered outer islands sports association, best outer island sports achievement award, Manea Zone sportsman and sportswoman, Purapura Zone sportsman and sportswoman.

CISNOC is also working closely with David Bridge from Air New Zealand to secure a high calibre guest speaker for the sports awards evening.
