Toga run lots of fun

These toga clad Hash House Harriers raised a few eyebrows and comments on Monday when they ran through Avarua for their annual toga run to mark the start of a new year of running for the group.

Traditionally the first run of the year for the weekly running group is a themed toga run and the keen hashers dress accordingly – some in sheets and others in the popular pareu.

Hashers ran through the Avarua township from the Empire Theatre car park to the Avatiu harbour and back and generated much curiosity among motorists passing the toga clad runners.

The event was topped with a banana cake bake-off competition where cake tasting was judged by a ballot.

The next Hash gathering is on Monday January 10.
