Juniors to compete in champs

Eight junior tennis players are polishing up their game ahead of the Pacific Oceania Junior Championships in Fiji from August 8 to the 19th.

The team will depart for Fiji this Thursday accompanied by coach Malcolm Kajer and team manager Marcel Tua.

The elite junior players have been working hard on their skills at the Nikao Tennis Centre and are pumped for the tournament which will be played in the under 18, under 15 and under 12 age grade divisions.

Frederick Goodwin and Lillian Maui will play in the under 18 division while 4 tennis players will represent the island in the under 15 categories.

Roland Neururer, Jake Bergman and Tamarua Payne will play in the under 15 boys division and Taylor Beddoes will play in the girls under 15 tournament.

The under 12 tournament will be contested by Andrew Terupe in the boys division and Kiana Sword-Tua in the girls division.

The local players have been spending hours on the courts and are expected to do well at the tournament.
