An afternoon of pink Knights

The Northern District Knights will don their famous pink playing strip at Turangi today, leaving their maroon and yellow attire in the wardrobe for the day.

The team first put on their eye-catching uniform last season in support of the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation and the cause remains the same today.

Their Cook Islands trip also happens to coincide with breast cancer awareness month.

Though they revert back to their traditional colours for one-day matches and dress in white for Test matches, the team still takes on their distinctive pink hue for Twenty20 matches.

Captain Scott Styris said it was all about raising awareness of the disease, promoting the work of the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation and hopefully raising some much-needed funds for the charity.
