Haka penalty for Wallaby fans

The 2011 Rugby World Cup has provided weeks of entertainment for Cook Islanders already, but CITC staff have perhaps had nothing more entertaining than the short show they received yesterday.

The companys Wallabies supporters had to swallow their pride and perform a haka at the Avatiu supermarket yesterday morning, their penalty for losing a bet on the weekends semi-final against the All Blacks.

With a few sour-faced Australians in the mix, a small group of the hopefuls who backed the yellow-and-gold at Eden Park on Saturday night performed a haka for their All Blacks-backing workmates.

The cheering onlookers were wiping away tears of laughter by the end of the 11am performance in front of the supermarket as CITC staff from around the island slapped their thighs and stomped their way through the performance.

If the All Blacks had lost the match, their supporters had agreed to perform the Australian national anthem Advance Australia Fair at the store.
