The annual International Triathlon will be held on Saturday May 7 and athletes wanting to take up the challenge are reminded that the closing date for registrations is April 15.

No late entries will be accepted as changes have been made to improve running the event – namely an electronic timing system.

This new system will make time keeping much easier and more accurate.

At this stage – a total of 66 individual athletes have registered for the annual tri plus 21 local individual entrants and 13 teams.

The gruelling international triathlon course, to be based in Ngatangiia, includes a 1.5km swim in Muri lagoon, 41km cycle around the island including a loop of hospital hill and a final 10km run.

Interested athletes are asked to get your entries in quick and if anyone is interested in volunteering on the day – organisers would love to hear from you.

Email Len Edwards on poly@oyster.net.ck for more details and to register your interest as an athlete and volunteer.
