The second intake of Just Play facilitators has successfully completed training and is ready to deliver the programme to schools and communities around Rarotonga.

Fun was had by all as the facilitators took part in practical sessions during the first day before children from the village of Matavera assisted on the second day allowing the facilitators to practice delivering the variety of sessions.

During the theory sessions instructor Michelle Paiti stressed the importance of all the children participating and having fun as well as boys and girls playing together.

This programme has the potential as a social tool to promote education, health, and development as participants were enlightened with many positive stories from the pilot phase.

Presentations were also made by Vania Kenning on social responsibility and Karen Tairea on nutrition as these areas form an important part of the overall programme.

During the closing of the course, the facilitators were presented with the equipment for their schools and communities and are now looking forward to the next 6 weeks as they deliver the programme in their respective areas with the ongoing support and guidance from the Just Play team.

Paiti thanks the facilitators and children of Matavera for their time during the training course as well as acknowledging the Australian Government (Ausaid), Oceania Football Confederation and UEFA for their continued funding and support of the programme.
