The first badminton meeting to set up a committee for the code will be held this Friday at 12 noon at the CISNOC office in Taputapuatea.

Two nights of badminton games staged at the Princess Anne Hall at Tereora College drew in up to 60 players each night who not only showed great skills on court but were also keen to have a regular badminton evening.

Hugh Graham, who has instigated the revival of the sport on the island after purchasing badminton gear in China recently, is encouraging those that had a ball at badminton to be part of the committee to keep the sport alive for all to enjoy.

Graham says that the first meeting on Friday is to gauge the interest to set up a committee but judging by the loads of fun everyone was having at the two badminton nights, there is definitely interest in making badminton a permanent fixture on the local sporting scene.

A draft constitution will be circulated at the meeting on Friday and two weeks after the first meeting an annual general meeting will be held to follow the proper process of setting up the code.

If you are keen to be part of this exciting revival in badminton, get along to the CISNOC office on Friday at 12 o’clock and have your say.
