It was a great start to the league masters games on Monday with a good turn out for the tournament. Good to see so many players coming out for a run and while some are serious about their game, some are there for the fun of it.

Today’s game will see the Mongoose take on the Nga Tama Warriors.

The Nga Tama Warriors from Australia were playing their typical Australian style of play with good running, off-loads and busting the line to score some very good tries on Monday.

The local Central Chiefs certainly were in the play with the CIRL president scoring a well executed try followed by the masters president Lucky Matapuku.

It was great to see the Takitukmu Warriors mustering up a full squad with another squad lining up on the sideline.

The Rutaki Sharks mustered enough players with the help of the Mongoose to play a good entertaining game on the day.

The Otara Scorpions were very well presented and professional much to the delight of the spectators.

The opposition was the infamous Avatiu-Nikao Mongoose and the Scorpions certainly had a lot of sting in their play.

The Mongoose squad was beefed up by the Bulldogs coach Rea Rea and the legendary NZ Kiwi icon Kevin Iro.

Most of all it was an awesome day for the masters with a huge crowd coming out to watch.

The community at large is encouraged to get behind the masters tournament for their next games today at the Nikao field starting at 3pm and on Friday before the under 16 grade league grand finals between the Panthers and Bulldogs.

Friday 25th game 3 at Tupapa field – 2.00p -Central Chiefs vs Otara Scorpions (NZ), 3.00pm-Mongoose vs Takitumu, 4.00pm - Rutaki Sharks vs Nga Tama (Australia), 5.00pm U16s Panthers vs Bulldogs.
