Tri-series renews rivalry

At the end of the year, Mangaians from the Cook Islands, New Zealand and Australia will gather in Melbourne, Australia for their Tri-series games scheduled between December 22 and January 5.

This is the third series of this bi-annual multi-sports event between the three countries with sports and cultural performance competitions.

The sports played will be touch, table tennis, volleyball, golf, rugby, tennis, soccer, cricket, netball and darts.

The tournament will be opened on 22 December followed by cultural performances to start in the evening.

Countries are to compete in the imene tuki, pee, ute, action song, and the drum dance sections.

The Cook Islands won in 2008 and New Zealand in 2010. The theme for this year’s reunion is for ”Leaders to set good examples for the new generations to hold and to share in the near future.“
